The Uttar Pradesh Police (UP Police) is the primary law enforcement agency within the Uttar Pradesh state of India. Established in 1863 as the Office of the Inspector General of Police, United Provinces under the Police Act, 1861. The U.P Police is one of the oldest police departments in the Republic of India, and is the largest police force in the world. The UP Police headquarters is at Signature Building, Gomti Nagar, Ardonamau in Lucknow.

The UP police employ around 1,368 gazetted officers, and 2,31,443 non gazetted uniformed officers. Uttar Pradesh police are governed by the Department of Home and Confidential of Uttar Pradesh.[8] The Uttar Pradesh Police is headed by the Director General of Police (DGP) for the state of Uttar Pradesh, who is the highest-ranking (DG) IPS officer of the state cadre. UP Police is the first Indian state police agency to have a highway patrol Unit, the UP Highway Police (UPHP).

The selection process of UP Police Constable is based out on the following stages:

The selection of candidates will be done mainly on the basis of the written examination, verification of documents and physical standard tests, physical fitness test and selection and final qualification lists. The candidates who will qualify the required phases of the examination will then be appointed for the approved post.

  • Written Examination: The written examination will be objective in nature (OFFLINE). The candidate has to clear the written exam to get shortlisted for the next stage.
  • Document Verification and PMT: After clearing the written exam, candidates will be asked for the documents and physical measurement test.
  • Physical Efficiency Test: After the successful submission of documents, candidates will be asked to give PET which is the physical efficiency test.
  • Final Selection: After the completion of all the stages successfully, the merit list will be made.

Documentation for Up Police Bharti : The successful candidates need to produce the following documents at the time of verification

  1. Certificate of Class 10 and 12th or its equivalent examination certificate as a proof for the qualification mentioned in the application form and the Date of Birth.

‘O level certificate in computer from DOEACC / NIELIT Society OR Two-year service certificate in regional service OR National Cadet Corps ‘B’ Certificate

The candidates looking for reservation and age relaxation benefits have to produce the following documents (if applicable):

Original residence certificate of Uttar Pradesh

Caste certificate to support the reservation benefit

Candidates who are the dependents of freedom fighters must possess a certificate issued by the state government in the approved format.

Ex-servicemen must possess unit discharge certificate, no objection certificate by the unit commandant, Indian special army certificate of education issued.

District commandant, home guards must have an issued service certificate. The home guard should have completed at least 3 years of service as on the last date of application

Certificate in support of the age relaxation should have been issued by the working staff of Uttar Pradesh state.

Age: Candidates age not less than 18 years and not more than 22 years for Male Constable & Constable PSC, 18 to 25 years for Female Constable. Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and such other categories of candidates of Uttar Pradesh maximum age relaxation will be admissible as per rules

In Physical Efficiency Test Male candidates have to complete Race of 4.8 km in maximum 25 minutes and Female candidates have to complete Race of 2.4 km in maximum 14 minutes.
